Young girl from viral moment at Taylor Swift concert loses cancer battle
Scarlett had her dying wish to meet Taylor granted earlier this year in Sydney.
Scarlett Oliver, a nine-year-old cancer patient from Perth who got her dying wish to meet Taylor Swift during her Australian tour earlier this year, has passed away, her father has confirmed.
Scarlett made headlines when the singer gave the young Swiftie one of her trademark fedora hats during her performance of '22'.
Scarlett had only been given 12-18 months to live after she was diagnosed with high-grade glioma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Her father, Paul, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Sunday, which read:
"My Angel, so strong, so brave, so beautiful ❤️,
"Nothing will ever be the same again.
"Don’t forget me and please find a way to let me know you are ok.
"Goodnight baby, I love you - Dad 😢,
"It’s just not fair 💔."
'Weeks rather than months'
Paul had revealed earlier this month that his "beautiful" daughter hadn't been doing very well recently, and had "weeks rather than months" left.
"We have spent much of the school holidays in hospital due to complications with the tube, constant vomiting and extreme tiredness," he shared at the time.

"Last night after discharge from [Perth Children's Hospital] she suffered a significant seizure and was rushed to hospital via ambulance. She has now stabilised but remains in hospital very unwell.
"Oncology doctors have informed us that based on an MRI scan and recent events that her prognosis is dire and we are looking at weeks rather than months. Her birthday is on May 7th and they have concerns that she will not get to enjoy that."
He added, "I just want to see my baby smile and laugh if only for a little while. We are all struggling to comprehend how we are where we are."
Tributes pour in for Scarlett
Many people took to Instagram to share tributes to Scarlett, with one user referencing Taylor's song 'Bigger Than the Whole Sky' about grief, writing, "You were bigger than the whole sky…"
"Oh sweet girl, I hope you are pain free and are dancing endlessly to Taylor Swift 🫶🏽," another said.
"How lucky Taylor Swift was to have met YOU beautiful Scarlett," a third said. "May you continue to guide your family, in their hearts, and in all the little ways you show them you’re still here, all around us."
"You’re right. It’s so incredibly unfair. I’m so very sorry," someone else added.
"There are no words other than I am so so sorry for your loss," actress Rebecca Gibney wrote.
